George K Cook/e b abt 1792 Caroline Co, VA - Penn, LA, KY, Indiana
I have a George K Cook/e in my husband's family tree.
He married a Sarah Hampton who went by the names Sarah and Sally and Sallie. It seems he traveled around quite a bit. VA - Penn, Louisiana, KY, Indiana. Daughter Matilda Cook/e b 1816 Louisiana
I don't know what happened to his other children, or who he descends from.
Below is a summary on everything i have on him. I am in Australia with access to Ancestry and internet, but no access to ordering certificates etc from the USA.
I first found out about him from the small Dicken Tree that was given to me by my husband's Dicken relative, a descendant.

father of
Matilda Cooke b. 1816 Louisiana, d. 1892 Grant Co, Indiana
She married

The only info i have found on George K Cook/e is his enlistmanet info for the 1812 war from ancestry and books online.
He inlisted as George K Cook age 21 b Caroline County, Virginia, Blacksmith into the 7th US Infy, Jan 12 1813 at Knoxville, Pennsylvania for a period of 5 years. Link below to image at Ancestry.

First Settlement- Many of these people came from Fayette County, Ind.,or from that region.
: George K COOK, settled two miles south of America, Wabash Co. He had been a soldier in the war of 1812, under Gen Jackson, and had been wounded at the battle of New Orleans, Louisiana. (I think this is where he met Sarah Hampton and Matilda was born in Louisiana. George K was discharged in Louisiana)
No marriage for George K Cook/e and Sarah hampton has been found as yet abt 1815 - 1816 in Louisiana or KY or Indiana.
George K Cook/e died 1866 in Liberty, Wabash Co., Indiana.
George K Cook was a Justice of the Peace in Liberyt, Wabash Co in 1833 and possibly other years
George K Cook applied for a pension in 1836 in wabash INdiana.
His known children were.
Matilda b 1816 Louisiana m Richard Henry Dicken
Dorcus (m. Calaway)b abt 1826 Kentucky
Louisa
Mary
Martha
William
Elizabeth? (an Elizabeth Cook m. Abraham Lewis Dickenbut i don't know if she is related )
Jusetta b. indiana abt 1837
Peyton or Payton H(Henry?) b. Indiana abt 1831
John B b. Indiana abt 1835
Gabriel b. Indiana abt 1833
All of Matilda Cook/e (Geo K's dau) and Richard Henry Dicken children are known.
Matilda's mother i have been told is Sarah Hampton but on census she is Sarah, Sally, and family wrote of her as Sallie.b between 1790 and 1796 in Kentucky. I haven't found a birth or parents for her. All census state b. KY.
I feel these Dicken and Cook/e families must have known each other as another Cook/e Dicken marriage happened -(an Elizabeth Cook m. Abraham Lewis Dicken abt 1820 Kentucky? but i don't know if she is related to our Matilda Cook/e)
I just can't find a paper trail that links Caroline County VA Cook or Cooke's to Louisiana, KY, or Indiana. Did the Cook/es know the Dicken family from VA ??
Any help appreciated.
Also, in 1996 there was a post on the internet from another descendant, but i haven't been able to make contact. I'm sure he can help with some clues.
his post is below

My name is Ron Bryan from ------------- . My Great-great-great-great-great grandfather was George K. COOK from Wabash County. He was a War of 1812 veteran born on Jan 5, 1792. He and his family lived in Wabash County as early as 1830, and he died in 1866. His wife's name was Sally. He had sons George, John, Payton, William and Gabriel, and daughters Matilda (DICKEN), Dorcus (CALAWAY), Jusetta, Louisa, Mary (MCNIEL), and Martha. Where did they live? When did they die? Where are they buried? Are any fellow descendants still there? I look forward to all kinds of help. Thanks!
