David -

We may be on the same trail. My gg grandfather was Rodman and he did have 6 kids... Harry Barnes( my g grandfather), Dorothy (supposedly named after his mother Angeline Palmer), Frank Edward, John Rodman, Harriette (Hattie) Pearl, and Cassius (Cash) Clarence. All born in West Henrietta or Henrietta, Monroe County NY. Frank was born in 1875 and per my family records married a Cora Armstrong.

His civil war career was very short and he spent most of his time in a hospital. At one time he was thought to have been an officer but in fact wasn't. He enlisted and mustered out in Michigan.

Let me know if any of this is familier or helps.
