Not sure if our Coones immigrated from the USA but we do know that they were living in Peterboro County by 1871.
My gggrandfather was John Coones, 72 in the 1871 cenus. His wife was Hannah Blakley who was about 45 in 1871 census living in Anstruther, Burleigh, Chandos TWP Peterborough County.
In Harvey TWP in 1871 census there is a James Coones.
And I beleive there were other Coones in Smith TWP in Peterborough County about the same time.
