Coonrod, Woolery, Woolley, Wooley, Conrad families
Mary and all those I hope read this:
Coonrod is connected to Dorsey of which is my direct line.It has been told that a family of this name raised my G-Grandfather Woolley, Wooley, Woolery etc.,and at one time was in the state of NE.My G-Grandfather was born 1854 and in 1861 was said to be living away from other family, perhaps learning a trade, by 1880 census, he wasn't at home, where is Mom then a widow was living with her father Silas Dorsey (also as a widower at the time) with some of G-Grandpa's siblings. My GGG-Grandfather was Silas Dorsey married to Mary E. Smith b 1802.They lived in Ohio.
I have been unable to locate or learn the Coonrod, Conrad, Conroy family my G-Grandfather Woolley was living. It is completely possible they went to IL.I have traced enough families to become somewhat familiar with so many.
Now I am beginning to wonder if there is more of a connection with the Coonrod family with the name spelled Woolery seeing it used so much in that line.I haven't been able to go further back in my Woolley, Wolley, Wooley, etc. line that my GG-Grandfather who was married twice in Ohio, 2nd time to Dorsey, My GG-Grandmother.I have her line fine.Even that of my GG-Grandfather's 1st wife.
For years it has appeared my GG-Grandfather Woolley fell from the sky, married and went to hide.Census records give me 2 locations of birth for him and no information on his death.
It's so tempting to make jokes here, but I won't as this is a serious query.Does anyone here know of this Coonrod, Woolery, Woolley, Wooley family?
I have long thought a Jacob or Jonathan Woolley, etc. was a connection but unable to find proof for the right one.
Please HELP!
