Hi,
I am not sure whether I can help you in your specific enquiry, but my forebears originated from the area of North Devon where you live.
My Grandfather was Thomas Copp, decsed 1936,who was chairman of Ilfracombe Council around 1900 and was the owner of Copp's Coaches,a cosiderable business in that town.
According to my family tree, the copp clan originated in the Torrington area.
I hope I can be help should wish to cotact me.

Regards,

Tom Copp.
