He was a Capt. at the Battle of Bunker Hill and as a legislator voted against the disfranchisement of Catholics. He wed the daughter of inn keeper, legislator, Maj. Barnabus Palmer, Sr., who's wife twice descended Gov. Dudley and once Gov. Winthrop. I descend his son, lawyer David Copp. Jr., murdered 1803 in a New Orleans, La., gambling house, by daughter Adeline Cecelia Copp who wed New Orleans lawyer, Adj. Lt. John Nixon, DeJean's 1sr La. Militia, who fought of the far west bank, Battle of New Orleans, untill over-run by the British, when he spiked his two cannon. His tomb is on the waterfront, Biloxi, where he owned the Nixon House Hotel. Biloxi's Copp, Nixon, and James streets, are named for the family. Jim Miller, Southport, North Carolina
