Hi Sheril. Did you ever find out anything about the Coupee Family? The name was an an upper class version of the Coupe Family Name, in France prior to the French Revelutation during the 1790s. My 3rd G,Grand Father, was Francis Coupee. He was born in France, on Sept 20, 1775. He was well educated, He spoke French, English and German. He was a printer by trade. His family was loyal to the King, to include Louis 16th. After the Royal family was executed in 1793, The Coupee Family was forced to leave France, or suffer the same type of death. Some family members moved to England, Scotland, and Canada. Francis, moved to Salisbury, Rowan Co. NC, in 1796. He met a young miss Margaret Anne,(Peggy) Crider. She was a daughter of Barnabas and Margaret Crider. Their marriage resulted in eight children, five boys and three girls. My 2nd G-Grand Father, was Jacob, Jacque. Coupee,(Copee). Francis's family, may have perished during the revelolution, as nothing was published about them? I have most of the available data relating to the francis Coupee Family, in the USA.
