I know this has been beaten into the ground, but I'm still quite puzzled. It has been going around for years that Charles Coppedge (1687-1750), father of Moses Aaron Coppage who married Jane Catlett, was married to Lucy Lunsford. Is this proven, or just speculation? Exerpt from Coppage Coppedge Cronicle II pg 15:
"the wife of Charles Sr. predeceased him and her first name is not known with certainty; she was clearly a Lunsford, perhaps the Srah Copedge who appears in Northumberland records in 1735, but she could not have died in that year."
Question 1) Based on what was she clearly a Lunsford? I know that there was a connection between Charles and a Moses Lunsford, but is it a family connection?
Continuing from Cronicle:
"We are making her out as Lucy Lunsford (dau. Sheriff John Lunsford, son of William son of Sir Thomas, pictured supraalong with King Charles's friends)."
Question 2) If the first statement is true, and her first name is not known with certainty, then why are we "making her out" to be anybody?
