Colleen, It is slightly past Christmas, but maybe I can help a little. The John J Coppedge family Bible lists:
Isaac Coppedge father of John J Coppedge was born April 15th 1760 and was married to Sarah Jackson Nov 23rd 1888 (I think this should have been 1788). Other records say 1794.
In the Dickson Co. TN History, it is stated that John Jackson and his brother Alexander H Coppedge came to the Yellow Creek area of northwestern Dickson Co. before 1820.
They are both listed in the 1820 Dickson Co. TN census.
In 1824 in Dickson Co. TN, John J Coppedge deeded 112 acres to Alexander H Coppedge.
John J named a son James Alexander, perhaps after his brother.
Hope this helps a little.
