The German family name of Cordes was more popular than I first thought.Yours is the first I have heard of going to Argentina.I know nothing of them.I have exchanged emails with a Vanessa Cordes who lives in Austrailia and whose ancestors went there in the 19th century. My ancestors came to Cincinnati, Ohio,USA in 1849, while two brothers came about 1830 to Baltimore, Maryland, USA.A Doctor Cordes came to South Caroline, USA in the late 1600s. I have run across many other Cordes familes in the USA that don't connect to mine. As for their religious belief, I can only attest for my own ancestors. They were neither Catholic nor Lutheran. They were what was then called German Evangelical. Some of them later converted to Lutheran and other non-Catholic denominations.
