Well, of course there must be several origins of the name, since not all Coreys are really related.
However, my maiden name (Corey) comes from Swedish heritage. The family originally lived in Sweden with the name Anderssen. I don't know the exact story, but during a war, the king wanted name changes for common last names to prevent confusion. Our name then changed to Kare. Once the family moved to America, they changed it to Corey.
