Hi Anthony
There is about three different families of Corkins in New Zealand. My great grandfather was Frances Corkan They were illiterate irish labourers living in Scotland. My grandfather Michael, was born in Lanark Scotland and Frank Corkan and all his family immigratated to New Zealand late 19th Century.Frank is buried at Riverton near Invercargill in the far south of New Zeland. It is spelt "Corkin" on his gravestone. My father, Terence Corkin is buried at Lower Hutt NZ (died 1982).I am 58 years old and live at Taupo, NZ.Incidently, one of my sons is named Antony, who is 22 and a snowboard instructor.
So you see the genuine Corkins are thriving in the southern hemisphere.
Cheers
Mike Corkin
