My father was very proud of his Manx roots, and his grandmother was a CORLETT from GLEN AULDEN on the I of M. Regrettably, at the time of writing I do not know (or have forgotten) her name, but I do know she became the second wife of a man named Smith in the Oxford area of England. She survived him and often went to stay with her daughter, Ellen A.M. Corlett Southern (b. 15.9.1872, d. 13.11.1944) in Bolton, Lancs. (U.K.).

There was some talk of my father's great-grandfather having been a smuggler and having been caught by the Excise men, but how much is fantasy and how much truth, we'll never know, or will we???
