Bridget Corley and Cornelius Mullaly or Mullally
My great grandfather, Patrick O'Brien emigrated to Canada from Ireland in 1846. In the 1901 census, his birthdate is indicated as March 17, 1833, however, the year could be as early as 1829. He married Elizabeth McCarthy, who was also born in Ireland and came to Canada with her parents Charles McCarthy and his wife, Mary Welsh. They are all listed as Roman Catholics. Patrick and Elizabeth (also known as Bessie), lived in Toronto at 76 William Street (York) until their deaths (Patrick on September 23, 1905 at the age of 76 and Elizabeth at the age of 83 years. One of his sons, Charles F. O'Brien, who was born in Toronto married Margaret (Maggie) Mullaly or Mullally who was born in Kingston - Frontenac. Her parents were Cornelius Mullaly or Mullaly and Mary Welsh. On the death notice for Charles, it indicates that he was a resident of Toronto for 50 years to his death in 1905. They had 4-5 children including my father Wilfred Joseph O'Brien (pharmacist), who married Claire Morin. Other children were Thomas Joseph O'Brien (Manufacturers Life), Vera Tracey (O'Brien), Francis (Frank) O'Brien and another daughter. I've heard the surname Snaith as related to the O'Briens. I would appreciate any information you might be able to provide. Thanks again. Lenore
