I'm desperately hoping that someone out there can help me. I am looking for Elizabeth R. Cormac (Carmack/Cormick/McCormick/McCarmack)who married Sam. M. Turner. She died 4 Mar 1902 and is buried in Lone Chestnut Cemetery, Decatur Co., TN. Her tombstone only reads "E.R.C. 3/28/1844 - 3/4/1902, wife of S.M. Turner". She is my gggrandmother. Her son Charlie Joe (c.L.) Turner is the father of my grandmother Irene Turner Richardson. Both family lines stop here for us. The story is that Sam Turner took some grain up river and was never seen again. The grain was found floating in the river but he wasn't around. Later, someone said he had been killed by someone (last name "Jeeter" ?) but no proof of it. The story also goes that Elizabeth's family disowned her because they felt she was "marrying beneath herself". My grandmother will be 82 this year and I would love to be able to give this information to her. Her mother died when she (Irene) was just 11 years old and her (Irene)father was already feeble minded so there just isn't a lot of family history information on her father's side of the family. You can respond to this message of e-mail me at cjs_only@hotmail.com Thanks for any help you can give me. Carol
