Berwickshire Cormacks

I have several Cormacks living in the Coldingham/Eyemouth area in my family tree, the earliest I have traced so far being Thomas Cormack, who married Elspeth Collin 4 May 1797. Does anyone have any antecedents for this branch of the Cormacks? I think it is possible that my Thomas might be the one born in Wick, Caithness 22 Dec 1773. An oral tradition has survived in my family that the Cormacks had come to the area from somewhere up north... it might just be that this is accurate and has been handed down for over 200 years!

Any light that can be shed would be warmly welcome, thanks.
