Robert E. Cormier, 85, of 10 Allds Street, Nashua, a well known native of this city, died early Saturday morning, October 3, 2009 at the Hunt Community. A son of the late Rodolphe and Exilda (Messier) Cormier, he was born in Nashua on March 2, 1924.
Bob was educated in local schools and graduated from Nashua High School, class of 1942.
During World War II, Mr. Cormier served with the Army Air Corps in India from 1942 to 1945. After the war, Bob continued his education at Saint Anselm College, graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1949.
On September 13, 1949, Bob married Lorette Burque of Nashua and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Cormier was employed with the Federal Housing Administration for 29 years as a residential housing appraiser. He later worked as a part-time salesman for Steve King Auto Service of Nashua.
A longtime leader of Boy Scouts of America, Bob was Cubmaster of Pack 255 and served in many district and council committees. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver and St. George Awards and was a member of Camp Doucet Association. Mr. Cormier was an active communicant of St. Louis de Gonzague Church for many years, serving on the Parish Council and School Board and as a Lector. Bob especially loved spending time with his family and supporting all of their activities.
Members of his family include his beloved wife, Lorette A. Cormier of Nashua; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Elaine Coronis of Merrimack, widow of Tom Coronis, Jeanne and Gary McCullough of Mont Vernon and Anne and Gary Stuer, D.V.M. of Norway, ME; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Donna Cormier of Hollis and Al and Diane Cormier of Salem; nine grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard E. Cormier (his twin) and Mary Cormier of Springfield, VA and Raymond and Genevieve Cormier of Nashua; three sisters-in-law, Natalie Cormier, Alice Cormier and Lorraine Burque all of Nashua; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by three sisters, Blanche O’Brien, Lorette Rafferty and Pauline Schmidt; and two brothers, Vincent Cormier and Paul Cormier.
The Cormier family wishes to thank the staff of the Hunt Community, for their dedicated care of Bob.
