My mother is Ann Lamantia Mentz. Her Great Grandfather was Vensenzo "Vincent" Lamantia I have documents that show his name spelled Lamantia. Further, he was the Italian Diplomatic Consul to the US under President Grover Cleveland in the 1880s from Italy to New Orleans which was the 3rd largest port at the time. The Documents claim that he was appointed by the King of Italy and the President and a native of Termini. I think he was a lawyer. I imagine that Italy had just united before he came to the US. He was also part of some groups such as the Garibaldi. Dont know much more. George Mentz in New Orleans
