Our Lamantia family of Termini-Imerese spelled their name "Mantia" in Sicily so there is probably no connection. We had thought that most of the Mantia's and Lamantia's of Termini-Imerese were fisherman so it is interesting to learn of one that was a Lawyer. I've traced back to a Salvatore Mantia (1837-18??) and his wife Maria Catalano (1845-18??). Salvatore was first married to a woman with the last name of Geraci but she apparently died early in the marriage.
All of Salvatore's children, so far as we know, came to America.
