The mandolin makes even more sence. Doyle was a musician in the Civil War and when he got back to Matagorda County, Tx he built his own instruments, he also has a couple in the museum there. I went to view them but the place was closed.
The James I am referring to is James Francis Coston, Doyles brother. It would make since that if your James lived with the Costons then music would be the order of the day, so that makes the correct dates the ones that I sent you for the Doyle in question.
