I have not found the parents of my William W. Costen, b. 1809 Mecklenburg Co., NC, much less the immigrant ancestors. I continue to believe his parents were James & Susanna "BERRYHILL" Costen who were in Mecklenburg Co., NC Some family members indicate the COSTENs came from England but others say they came from Ireland. I don't rule out any spelling of the name since I've found various ones used in my own family. Any suggestions or clues that you might offer will be most helpful.
