The gap in Coston lineage from 1400 to 1600
remains unfilled. But around 1500, there is
a William Coston, and he has a son, Thomas
Coston de Coston (D 1546)who marries a
Elizabeth Leighton de la Cotes (D 1546).
Among their several children is Thomas Coston
(B 1545 D 1640), and one of Thomas' children
is Thomas (B 1609) who marries Elizabeth.
Among their several children is Matthew (B
1664) who marries Elizabeth (D 1699) and
later Dorothy. Among the two children of
Matthew and Elizabeth is Thomas (B 1696) who
marries Elizabeth in 1719. Thomas and
Elizabeth have ten children, with the last
being Ebenezer (B 1734), who might well be
the first Coston born in this country.
Ebenezer married Betsey Goffe (B 8/17/1739 in
NH). Their eldest child was Betsey Goffe
(B in NH) who married Capt Goffe (B in NH).
And thats story (and a little more) that my
grandfather told me.
