Hi, Steve! That's wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your information. I've been researching the Goff line (my ggrandfather Frank Goff of Rhode Island) and came across the intermarriage with the Coston family.
I don't know whether that is my particular Goff ancestry, though. That would be the John Goffe of New Hampshire line that claims relationship to William Goffe the Regicide, who was one of the judges who condemned Charles I to death and then had to escape to America when Charles II took the throne. Some Goffs claim direct descent from William the Regicide, but it's controversial.
I'm still looking for my gggrandfather William Goff of Rhode Island around 1800 and can't find him anywhere. So I may or may not be related to the Goffs who married Costons.
I have another question, though -- maybe you can answer this one: Is there any variation in the name COSTON with CROSTON? Or are these two entirely different families? I have found both names associated by marriage with GOFF. Frank and William Goff of New York successively married Margaret CROSTON around 1880-90. Is the name just a coincidence?
Thanks for your help! And for your very interesting family information!
