Hello Liz,
Thinking this might be exciting, My Cousin Peter Cotgreave went over to check it out, and I'm afraid you made a mistake. PCC wills are registered in books, and when
you buy copies of them, you get all the pages on which the one you want is written, including the bits above and below, which are actually the end of the one that comes before and beginning of the one that comes after.
It just happens that the will of John Careless (which is how the name is spelled consistently in the will) starts at the bottom of a page, and comes immediately after Anna Christiana Mary Cotgrave's.That explains the coincidence of the years being the same.In fact, her will is so short that the top of the page is the end of another will (someone called John Chickall) and the probate act, then in the middle is the whole of Anna Cotgrave's will and the probate act, and then the last six lines at the bottom of the page form the beginning of John Careless's will, which then continues on the next page.Nobody called Cotgrave is mentioned in the Careless will, of whom the principal beneficiaries are children and a sister, all called Careless.
Unfortunately for us, this is not a new lead, but at least you do not have to solve this particular puzzle.
All the best, Bill
