1830 census, Limestone county, Alabama shows Cotnam family. William H. Cotnam B. abt, 1801, Virginia. Wife (Elizabeth) and large family. Including my gr-grandfather, George W. Cotnam. Three brothers served in Confederacy 1861-1865. Family also shows in 1850 census, Tippah county, Miss. and on to Arkansas. William H. homesteaded forty acres of land in Polk county, Arkansas, 1855 according to records.
