My g-g-grandfather was William Madison Cotnam who married Elizabeth Hunter, in the mid 1850's (some where in AR.I suppose Howard or Montgomery Co.) We found a death record in Montgomery Co. for 1867. I think they were in Montgomery and Howard Co. both. She raised the children in Howard Co.after he died. Have never found him on any census. Montgomery and Garland Co. are next to each other. Do you think there could be a connection?
Have you found Cotnam's any where in the 1850 census?
Ola Mae
