Hi! My great, great grandmother was Jane Cottam. We had been told she is from Lancashire. All I know about her for sure is that she married a man named Buhring (German) and their family moved to the states, AND that she is related (possibly an aunt) to Harold Thomas Cottam, the wireless operator on the ship "Carpathia" that answered the Titanic's distress call. I know this for sure because someone in the family from England sent my great grandmother(Francis Buhring Esfeller)a newspaper clipping about Harold Cottam's role in the rescue (it was a "local hero" sort of story). I remember seeing the clipping as a child (I am 43)and have been told that my great aunt's son still has it and has framed it.
If you have any knowledge of a Jane Cottam in your family I would love to find out about her ancestry as she is as far back as I have been able to go. Thanks, Diana
