I'm another Australian Cottam, & don't at them moment have much info about my family, I know that they came to Australia in the 1800's sometime. I believwe that my Grandfather, another John Cottam was born in a small country town in NSW "Ardlathen"(?) or somewhere else close to Tumbarrumba.I believe that his father came from the Lancashire area I am not sure if his father's name was Ralph or John. My grandfather John Cottam died in the 1930's or 40's. I know he was related to the Cottam who was the radio operator on one of the ships that was involved in the Titanic disaster.I believe that he came from a large family. He married my grandmother Jessica Bain in Dunedin NZ in the early 1900's. He had 6 children, John (known as Edmund, Margery, Thelma, Gloria, William (my father) & Kingston. Any help in your knowledge of the Australian Cottams would be appreciated.
