This is the info I have. William and Jane Coulson and their oldest sons William and John immigrated from England shortly before the civil war. William Sr enlisted for 3 1/2 years. William and Jane had twelve children (4 girls 8 boys). My Ggrandmother Elizabeth was born 7/31/1868. The family homesteaded in Otoe County Nebraska after the civil war. After three years of a grasshopper plague they left Nebraska for Kansas. Settled 25 miles north of Cimarron on Pawnee creek. In 1882 (aprox) the family moved to Iowa where William Sr had a sister. Elizabeth married Frank Ellis in 1884. Elizabeth wrote al of this info in 1948. Unfortunately she did not go into much detail or give may dates. Hope this is helpful.
