David, I do not have anything on the Putnam name. However, before 1837 Joseph Coulson settled in towhship 58 range 19 in Linn County. There was a Lewis and Coulson settlement on Yellow Creek, near St. Catherine.
Jeremiah Coulson born 1778 was father of one Joseph born 1812 in Grayson co. VA. Jeremiah settled in Yellow Creek Township, Linn County. These Coulsons are buried in Bucklin township. Some of these Colsons settled in Chariton County, first. Maybe this will provide a clue.
There is a History book on Bucklin with a lot of Colson information at the Brookfield Public Library.
I have been trying to find the father of one David H. Colson, born 1812 in vicinity of Lee County Virginia, and died 1873 in Chariton County, Missouri. Anyone have information on David?? One, undocumented source says the father of David was John Colson.
