My name is Melvin Medina Couret, My mother was Aurora Couret. She was your grandfather's sister. There were other brother and sisters. Hilda, Matilde, Rosalia, Nelida (Nellie), Carlos, Bienvenido, Bautista. A set of twins was born but died young, so I was told by my mom. She passed away two yrs ago. Only Bautista, Nellie, and Bienvenido are alive. They are probably in their 80s.... Your french side comes from my grandfather Lewis Couret, or it could had been Louis, there are no records in the us census, he was probably not legal, I am also researching this. My grand mother's name was Marisabel Paneto, she is in the SS death index, you can look her up. She passed away on 1980. She used to change names, so when she died no one knew her real name. Not sure why she did that.Maybe a practice from her first husband?? although she married later and kept doing it.
I am Aurora's youngest son, she was quite old when she had me so I got to enjoy all these stories. When I was born my sis and bros were all grown ups, but we have a good relationship and we talk all the tme. We are 14 kids. Well hope you now have a little history. We still have family in PR especially in Yauco PR. And there ae cousins in NY. By the way I live in NY. My e-mail is
God bless!
