Coventry Family & Tullieallan
Hi,
We have managed to research the Coventry's back to the mid 18th Century when Andrew Coventry and Isobel Wals were living in Tullieallan. Isobel had 3 children in Tullieallan, Annie (March 16th 1756 - July 12th 1777) Katherine (April 20th 1758) and David (19th Feb 1761 - 10th May 1764. I suspect that Isobel had 2 children before moving to Tullieallan, Helen and William. William is buried in the same plot in Tullieallan Churchyard as his parents. William's wife Margaret (sometimes Mary) Younger is also buried in the plot with the date 1791.An Andrew Coventry died of consumption in Tullieallan on February 16th 1763. His age is listed as 56.
Margaret Younger as far as I can see only had one child a boy named Andrew born on June 5th 1791. I suspect that Margaret possibly died in childbirth but as yet I have no hard evidence for this.
Andrew married Elizabeth Younger at Tullieallan on October 19th 1813. However, that's where the connection with Tullieallan apparently ends. Andrew and Elizabeth had 3 children; Isabella March 5th 1815 at Port Glasgow. William September 1816 at Glasgow and Elizabeth born May 5th 1818 at Glasgow. Andrew's occupation was given as a cooper on the birth entries in Glasgow (Wm & Elizabeth). However when Wm married for the 2nd time in December 1866 he gave his father's occupation as Clerk Distillery.
The only other information I have been able to discover about Andrew and Elizabeth Younger is the latter's death entry in Edinburgh where she died at Bellsmills on April 27th 1822, the cause was given as cholera and Elizabeth's age was given as 39 (I think that this may be a mistake). She was also described as the relict of Andrew Coventry, but I have been unable to find any death entry for Andrew.
Any information on these individuals would be greatly appreciated. If anyone needs any further info please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Regards,
Andrew Coventry
