Thank you so much. I have subsequently verified that the death certificate for the Elizabeth Covert is the one I was looking for. That is turn led to Elizabeth's obituary, which confirmed a sibling of hers, a Mrs. Amalie Lenz, of Pittsburgh, thereby establishing a positive identification of Elizabeth as daughter of Conrad & Catharine.
Is anyone familiar with who the husband was of Mrs. Amalie Lenz, born Young?
Regarding Benjamin Covert: I've since discovered that he may be the same as a Benjamin H. Covert. The identifier is his address(es) in Pittsburgh City directories, and consistency of occupation: steamboat steward.
So, Benjamin had apparently not died by the 1910 Census, as his wife Elizabeth stated (being "Widowed"). Instead, Benjamin H. married again, to a Calvon, with whom he was living in 1910. Did Benjamin pass away by 1920, as Calvon claims ("Widowed")? Is anyone familiar with this story? Calvon and Benjamin H. married about 1905, Calvon born in Georgia. Benjamin was her second husband. She had children from her previous marriage.
Does anyone have a definitive link between this Benjamin (H.) Covert and the Benjamin H. in the 1850 Census, son of Morris & Barbary Covert, living in Troy Township, Athens, Ohio?
