Harry,
Thanks. From family contacts, I learn that my grandfather Arthur James Coxon, who died in 1938 at Burton on Trent spent some of his youth in Bristol and that his father was Edward Coxon, born 1832, and his mother Mary. The 1881 census shows an Edward Coxon born in 1832 at Barton under Needwood and a wife Mary, and a child Arthur born in Bristol in 1870. This ties in well. The parents of Edward are shown as William and Mary. A William is shown as being born about 1804 and marrying a Mary but the only child shown is a daughter Ann, born 1830. There is no mention of a son. Any ideas, please?
Mike
