Most of my research is in the north-east of england, but I am in contact with COXONs all over the world.
I have been looking back at some of my COXON research and came up with this e-mail from about two years ago. There was a second e-mail which will explain more about it:-
I sending this from Adelaide in South Australia.
I came across your web page yesterday and was drawn by the name. My
grandmother (1888-1970) was Caroline Susan COXON born October 11 in
Aston, Warwick, England. I have her birth certificate which has no
entry for the father and names what appears to be either Annie or Marie
Coxon (Domestic Servant) as the mother. The residence address shown on
the certificate whilst difficult to read looks like "Victoria Road,
Aston Manor" .
You might find this interesting.
I suspect my grandmother was the result of a liaison between a servant
and a member of the household. Whether that member was a male on the
staff or a male in the family is unknown.
I omitted to tell you the additional information on my grandmother.
Despite her birth certificate details which I gave in the earlier
e-mail it's interesting to note that on her wedding certificate she has
nominated a William Coxon as her father and a Margaret Groves as her
All a bit confusing and sad that I didn't have this information when
she was still alive.
