Hi Les

I have been trying to find out some information for you but to no avail really.

Your father Robert Edward Coxon (jnr) was born in 1911 the same year as my father. REC had a sister called Louise who went to Canada and from information I came across that my dad had written by all accounts REC just disappeared.

Your mother (my Aunt Lorna told me) was the warden of Dunalistair House in Broughty Ferry near Dundee which was a holiday home for families of the Black Watch. She has no knowledge of what happened to your father and in fact knew nothing of you until she kept receiving phone calls from someone wanting Leslie (because you have the same initials I expect - an easy mistake) and then of course I mentioned I had received a message from you.

My father many years ago received a letter from an Adam Coxon from New Zealand and in that letter it was mentioned that a Paul Kinnear was seeking information on his step-grandfather Robert Edward jnr born 1911 (your father).
Paul's grandmother Jessie Mudie married REC jnr in 1941. Jessie of course was your mother. Do you know of this Paul Kinnear and how he fits in to the family tree.

Perhaps you can fill me in as I am confused!

To fill you in on the Coxon side

There were 3 brothers I know of and possibly a sister who died in infancy

Anderson (Andy) Coxon - my grandfather I never knew him
Robert Edward Coxon - your grandfather
Harry Coxon - an analytical chemist in Glasgow

Andy and Robert set up the business Coxon Bros - meat marketing in Dundee but something happened during the war (I don't know what) when Andy was overseas and your grandfather was left in charge of the business. On Andy's return the brothers went their separate ways with Andy keeping the business running.

My grandfather had three children
Daughter Marjorie born 1909 (had about 5 children)
Twin sons born in 1911 Anderson Carr my father (who was addressed as Carr)- he had twin daughters myself and Pat
and Stuart Carr (Lorna is his wife as you know)- no children

Your grandfather married a Helen Cunningham and had two children Robert Edward Jnr (your father) and daughter Louise

Your father married Jessie Mudie and then there was you.

Harry Coxon had two children Maxwell and Betty. Maxwell married but his wife died young and his baby was brought up by Maxwell's sister. Betty had a son called John who was an actor in London.

I am so sorry I cannot enlighten you any further. Aunt Lorna who is nearly 100 has tried to help but we are at a loss to know what happened to your father.

Keep in touch would love to hear how things progress.

Kind regards

Loraine Forsyth (Coxon)
