6 Vol Cossart Family History (New E-mail Address)
We, my sister and I, found a copy of each of the Six Volume Cossart Family History which was published in 1939 and was researched for about fifty years by the Cossart Family Association.
The volumes contained over 1200 pages of Cossart, Cozad, Cossairt, Cozart and Cassat and many other spellings, family genealogy. Starting with the Huguenot Jacques Cossart who fled France to escape religious persecution they are a treasure trove of stories about your ancestors, telling of them always migrating and settling new areas of the American wilderness.
They contain thousands of names, dates of birth, marriages and deaths, usually with locations of these events, tracing the lineage of these family spellings and many others.
They contain no information regarding the family subsequent to 1939 but knowing our history back to our great-grandfather enabled us to make a connection with him in the history and we have our history complete, with thorough documentation, all the way back to Jacques born in 1595.
We photocopied the entire six volumes and transcribed them into my computer. The originals were typewritten using mimeograph stencils and mimeographed on one side of each sheet. The typewritten pages were ten characters per inch and six lines per inch.
By using ten point font we got more characters per line and 7.2 lines per inch which came out to just a little over 800 pages (400 sheets) enabling us to include the six volumes in a single book. I have a few of them, beautifully bound by a master bookbinder. If you have any interest in them you can e-mail me at [email protected]
