Charles William Crabb, 71, of Longview, died Sept. 21, 1998, at the Hospice Care Center. He was born June 13, 1927, in Belmont, Miss., to Audie and Effie Mae (Anglin) Crabb, and came to Longview in 1968 from Sheffield, Ala., where he had lived since 1944.He graduated from Sheffield High School in 1947 and attended the University of Alabama at Florence.He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.On July 16, 1948, he and Billie Sue Susie Patterson were married.Mr. Crabb worked for Reynolds Metals Co. in Sheffield and in the Longview cable plant for a total of 40 years, retiring as plant superintendent.He enjoyed golf and bowling.Memberships included the Eagles, Elks and Longview Rolling Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Susie, at home; three daughters, Cay Devin of Tacoma, Coni Milsaps of Mount Sterling, Ky., and Cindy Johnson of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Billy Crabb of Montgomery, Ala., and James Crabb of Sheffield; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Steele Chapel with private entombment at Longview Memorial Park.Viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Steele.
