I am not sure, but it may have been my grandfather who did serve in the Army Airborne. He was born in 1924. He has since passed:
Cortney "Dick" Crandall Jr.
Cortney "Dick" Crandall Jr., 78, of Melbourne, Fla, died May 20, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1924, in Marion, Ind., and grew up in Ft. Wayne.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an active member of the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky O'Dell Crandall, and two brothers, Corvie and Bobby Crandall.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gene Lee Crandall; two daughters, Judy Watts and husband, Jim, of Merritt Island, Fla., and Patricia Crandall of Marshall, Mo.; three grandchildren, Terri Bears-Nix and husband, Terry, of Orlando, Fla., Shawnna Reynolds and husband, Danny, of St. Charles, Mo., and Stacie Osbourne and husband, Scott, of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-grandchildren Jordan and baby girl to be of Orlando, Dylan and Austin of St. Charles and Amanda of Phoenix; two sisters, Carolyn Hannah and Wilma Grothaus of Ft. Wayne; and other relatives and friends.
Private graveside services were held Monday, May 27, at the Piggott Cemetery. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
