I did not find an Edwin Wright Crandall or an Edwin W. Crandall in the Crandall genealogy but there are several dozen Edwin Crandalls in there. There was an Elmer Leroy Crandall born in 1879 so I doubt that is your uncle.
Do you know the name of your grandfather in that line? If so, I might have more luck looking for Edwin since each person in the Crandall index is listed with his/her father's name.
