William H Craun-1919 NJ, 1920 KC,MO
Hi,
Newbie to genealogy but only looking for some additional detail about William H, Craun, who is noted in auto history reference books as "little is known."
I find him in Hoboken, NJ during WWI at the Walter Christi plant servicing overland driven military trucks in preparation for shipping to the European Theater. One of his associates was front wheel drive pioneer Ben F. Gregory. They procure a 90hp V-8 Curtis aircraft engine for a racer and patent a front wheel drive train in june 1919 with Hoboken addresses.
In late '19 they both move to Kansas City, MO to pursue automotive ventures and file a couple more patents.Craun was the chief engineer of the Truck Drive Motor Company in the 1921 KC directory. He disappears in later editions. He could have been swindled or died of the flu.He has no further USA patents.
It would be nice to tie this thread.Thanks.
