Anywhere I Wander...James Adolphus Owens
Both volumes of Anywhere I Wanader, I Find Facts and Legends Relating to the Creel Family, by James Adolphus Owens are now available digitally at Family Search. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/245669
It covers a huge amount of information Mr Owens collected about the Creel family (and numerous variable spellings). Info is collected from many sources ranging from referenced data collected by other researchers to letters relating particular family lore. But I found many things I did not know, that add depth to my Creel research (Charles Creel, VA-KY). Additionally, for those of you who have not visited Family Search for a while, I suggest you rush on over. Historically, I had found it to be immensely frustrating to use and largely dependent on user input which fosters junk genealogy, one of my MANY beefs with Ancestry. While still a bit cumbersome, in addition to this book, treasures I have found include death certificates and actual copies of some state census, WWI registrations and federal census. Some of these things I have not found other places. Some are available elsewhere, but the quality of the copies is poor to worthless. And at Family Search, despite its growing pains, its still FREE!Happy Hunting.
