An excellent source of information on the families of German descent in northwestern New Jersey is "Early Germans of New Jersey" by T.F. Chambers (1895).It is not entirely reliable, but it's a great source. The book will be found in many libraries with an extensive genealogy collection.
My interest is in a large number of the German families, so far not including the Cregars and Hoppocks. However, I know there are genealogies for each of these families in Chambers.
Right now my interest is in the Miller family.I have found an aged John Miller(76), from whom I know my wife is descended, in the 1880 US Census living in Chester, New Jersey as a boarder with a young couple; namely Aaron R. Cregar(26) and his wife, Mary(24).Would you know whether this Mary was a
Miller ?
