WM. CREIGHTON was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, died at the home of his daughter, MRS. H.M. WILSON, at Fredonia, Kas., Feb. 7, l902, aged 78 years, 6 months and 25 days.

He was twice married, his first wife being MISS KENNON and to their union were born three children, two of which, MRS. ANNA CHANEY and MRS. RENA RICE with their mother, preceded him to the great beyond. MRS. ELLA WILSON resides at Fredonia, Kas. He was married the second time about l870 to MISS VICTORIA GARRETSON who bore him two children, CLYDE CREIGHTON, of Chicago, and MRS. MAUDE DELK, of Burlington. MRS. CREIGHTON died in this city in l888.

In l856 he moved from Ohio to Clarke County settling near Smyrna and later moved to Osceola where he engaged in the stock business. He came to Leon 27 years ago and for many years was the leading stock buyer of this county and gained an enviable reputation for his honest and upright dealing. About five years ago he retired from business since which time he had made his home principally with his daughter, MRS. WILSON, at Fredonia. No man ever lived in Decatur County who had more or dearer friends than Uncle BILLY CREIGHTON for he was surely a noble man who carried his roughest side on the outside. A good man has gone to his reward at a ripe old age.

Funeral services were held at Fredonia, on Friday, his remains being brought to Leon Saturday afternoon and laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Leon Cemetery.
