I am seeking information on a William Creighton, b. abt. 1808, in Ireland, d. 11-11-1872, Toronto. Married 4-23-1850, Toronto, Margaret Rose Mountjoy, b. abt. 1827, in Ireland, d. 4-18-1868, Toronto. Both are buried in St. James Cemetery, Toronto. Records indicate he was a merchant and a "gentleman". Margaret was the daughter of John Dobbs Mountjoy of Cork, Ireland. John D. Mountjoy is listed as a watchmaker in the 1824 Cork city directory. His wife may have been a "Travers". A Travers is listed in the 1824 directory as "Captain N. Travers at the old custom house". William and Margaret Creighton had 8 children, one, Elizabeth Wilhelmina is my g-grandmother, who married a Jesse Barber Gordon. Other children of William and Margaret Creighton are John, Margaret, William, Samuel, Frances, Florence, and Adelaide. All born 1853-1868. Margaret Rose Mountjoy Creighton also had 2 brothers living in Toronto, John Robert Mountjoy and Robert Travers Mountjoy. Both are buried in St. James Cemetery, Toronto. Both were merchants.
