DNA to separate family lines

My understanding is that many Creightons would be in the line going back to Crichton Castle in Scotland (descendants however often or generally lived in Northern Ireland). I also understand that many people, including the Nebraska College Creightons, adopted the name much later. DNA testing, such as that sponsored by Family Tree DNA, would be a great way to trace the male line in this family. HFS
