Cresson Gold Mine in Colorado
Does anyone know the origin of the name of the Cresson Gold Mine, one of the most productive in history (see www.cripplecreekhistory.com/cresson_history.htm)?There are few people in the CO census named Creason, Creson, or Cresson who might have given their name to the mine. One candidate is Charles Creason (son of David Willis and Sarah Desdemona Creason) because he was listed in 1920 as a miner working in the mineral industry. Another candidate is Alla (or Alba) Creason, an 18 year old miner in CO in 1880. (Does anyone know who he was?) The Cripple Creek District Museum told me the mine was incorporated as the Cresson mine in 1895 but they don't know how it got its name. Let's see if we can strike gold on this one! Os Cresson
