Hello! Welcome to the new Crevasse Genforum Site. My great, great grandfather was Joseph Napoleon Crevasse (sometimes Cavas, Cravassa, Cravatta, etc.) He was born in Genoa, Italy on 18 March 1809 of French parents. He is quite a mystery figure (not much is known about when he came to America and there is a pirate tale about him). After he arrived he appears in Levy Co,Florida and is a seaman. His slop was the "Minnie" and he was captured during the Civil War while running the blockade for the South. He was known to transport David Yulee's cotton and sugarcane before the war. In 1844(July 4th) he married the widow of a fellow seaman. She was Many Ann "Molly" Collins, who had married a Captain Robert W. Clarke. Molly was from Ireland but don't know much about her. Joseph Napoleon Crevasse died on 26 March 1874 and is one of the very few people buried near the lighthouse on Seahorse Island, Levy Co. Florida. Anyone having more information would be most appreciated by the family. You may email me personally at ancientdiva@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
Carol Boyles Irvin
