Charles, I came across your posting and think we may have the same family line in mind. My great-great-grandfather is Peter Cripe who came to Illinois from Indiana in 1858, according to the Cerro Gordo Centennial History. My great-grandfather, Menno Cripe, was one of three children born to Peter & Elizabeth Saltzman. Elizabeth Saltzman died at the age of 27. I don't have anything else about her other than what I have told you. In this same info on Cerro Gordo residents is info about Eli(as)Cripe (brother of Peter Cripe) and his wife Mary. George W. Cripe, (1833-1901) son of David and Anna Kreider. Hope this helps some. My daughter has collected this info for me from libraries and the like. Perhaps we can help each other out in our researching the Cripe families.
