Hi Linda - Bare with me, my magical little book on all the Cripe's of Bond Co. is in Illinois this week with my boyfriend's mom! Next week, I can tell you for sure just who your Elizabeth Cripe is. For now, I can tell you that she would come from this lineage: Jacob Grieb>Daniel>Rinehart>Jacob...This last Jacob being the one to settle in Bond Co. I'm guessing your Elizabeth is Jacob's daughter, but again, I can let you know that for certain later. Jacob built a church at the Cripe "homestead", known as Blue Mound (named for the "blue" grass of the hillside, and officially called Pleasant Mound (there was already a Blue Mound in the county). The church was later moved into town, where it still stands. Jacob's son John (your Elizabeth's brother?) was then a preacher in this same church. Family tales state John kept a keg of "cider" in his buggy to keep him warm as he visited his followers. John died as a result of a buggy accident in 1913. John's son William is my Scott's grandfather. Soooo, if I'm right in my thinking, your Elizabeth is a g-g-aunt to Scott. I can tell you the Cripes were quite the bunch, religious and more than a bit rowdy as well, according to Scott's Aunt Lexie, who is 85. They were also quite the prolific bunch, lots and lots of kids in each generation, and a ton of Jacobs and Daniels to sort through for each. I hope I have and will be of some help to you! Ruth
